Mr. Armitage has a wounderful voice and he uses it very well. I’m an actress and director of a small theatre company in Milan and I hope to see Mr. Armitage play on stage.
Did you see the New Yorker article about Virginia Woolf’s Idea of Privacy? It’s a bit confusing, but I see there is a connection between RA’s “elusiveness” (Esp. as noted by the Sunday Times interview) and what the author sees VW saying about an artist’s privacy. I wanted to write a post about it, but I am not skilled enough. Do you see any connection?
Sorry Perry continued worry over RA’s voice but didn’t want to flag it in main blog area. Is there any conclusion over whether RA is a smoker as that will have huge impact on his ability to maintain his voice under current performance pressure. Talked to a specialist friend of mine and she said he must minimise all talking outside of performance. Didn’t realise how tricky it was.
I don’t know much about it. It sounds more like his voice is fine in the beginning and is a litle scratchy near the end. I’d leave this to the professionals. I’m sure they have tricks, remedies and the like.
