The Hobbit has been open for about 10 days in the U.S.
Unbroken and Into the Woods, both of which just opened, topped the box office on Christmas Day, putting The Hobbit third. But on the day after Christmas, The Hobbit shot back up to # 1.
I really can’t wait to see what the weekend brings, both domestically and internationally, especially with the Ox opening.

That would be because we Hobbit fans treasure our time spent with family, especially at Christmas !

This is a good sign that the movie will have longevity. From its box office so far, it looks like it will outperform DOS. And it certainly has exceeded expectations. I’d like to see it cross the $300M domestic, and $1B worldwide benchmarks.
