  1. tzรจ charismatic… I think journalist and generic people should go more on tumblr ๐Ÿ˜› Our Thorin is Majestic, no less. Charismatic… pfui.
And I find their spoiler highly insensitive. No need to tell, just in case someone has not read the book. I love TORn method, that requires you highlight the blank space to read the spoilers ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • I’ll have to give him some credit for finding another word with which to describe Thorin. Certainly his company of Dwarves finds him charismatic and the definition generally fits. It’s just not the first word that comes to mind. I’ve also found it interesting that “majestic” is used all the time, and “regal,” hardly ever.

      • Charismatic is indeed a perfect description for Thorin too. In Italy it’s a very used word, even overworked, I’d say. Hence I try not to use it ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • From Arkenstone’s Blog of November 12th….
So next time you write something, take a minute, re-read it. Then read it again before you push the send button. Two things might happen. You might catch a mistake and correct it, or you might think twice about sending it. I sent something yesterday and I should have thought twice before I sent it. Not because there was any misspelled words in it. It was because I was out of line and I was rude and obnoxious. I hope I didn’t lose friends over my stupidity. I humbly apologize to them.

  2. Majestic: having or showing impressive beauty or dignity.
“watching majestic eagles soar along the Mississippi”
synonyms: stately, dignified, distinguished, solemn, magnificent, grand, splendid, resplendent, glorious, sumptuous, impressive, august, noble, awe-inspiring, monumental, palatial.

Regal: of, resembling, or fit for a monarch, esp. in being magnificent or dignified.

    I’m going with magnificent!

      • Sorry. It was the definition given when I searched Google. It did not name a source so I guess the source is Google. I just entered “define Majestic” and “define Regal.” The thing I was trying to say is that they both listed magnificent which I think fits Thorin perfectly.

  3. I had never thought of the word regal but I think that regal & majestic certainly some up Thorin even when severely wounded. Somehow charasmatic doesn’t work for me in the same way especially when near death. Only my opinion tho.

  4. What a busy layout on that website. I’m more than happy for RA to be described as magnetic, and I guess the writer had their heart set on describing Thranduil in that manner, so they needed another descriptor for Thorin. That spoiler at the end is totally unnecessary, and objectionable.

  5. Total “fail” for giving away the ending, there, Mr. Writer. You just can’t find good online writers these days . . . *sigh* Except for wonderful RA bloggers that is. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Richard is definitely magnetic and brimming over with charisma.

And I think he himself has a regal quality, not just the character. I swear there’s royal blood somewhere in those beautiful veins.

Thorin is regal, majestic, magnificent, charismatic, fierce, brave, tenacious, temperamental, stubborn, beautiful, sexy . . . complex.

  6. I thought we recognized some good online writers who reviewed or discussed Strike Back, and of course, all the major periodicals have online sites with specially designated online writers. I doubt if the Hollywood Spy hard copy, if there is one, is any better.

    • Oh, there are definitely some very good online writers. Unfortunately, from my own experience, there are quite a few poor ones, too. I just feel as if the internet has allowed for an explosion of people whose enthusiasm exceeds their grasp of grammar, spelling and so forth. And I agree, I doubt Hollywood Spyโ€™s hard copy, if it exists, would be a vast improvement.
