From AnUnexpectedDwarf on Tumblr -don’t ask me how. There’s another one on the site with the dwarves acting raucously. I noticed that on Tumblr, this image from this blog being shared, is way larger – so if you’re interested, search #Richard Armitage on tumblr and it should come up. [ETA: Servetus found the probable source from TORn and gave the link her comment – see the German Trailer for the EE.
Squeeeeeeeeeee!!! Oh. Exciting. Shake your tail, erm, granite!

Why, oh why this gif makes me so incredibly happy, why?
And then so sad thinking about Thorin destiny. And thinking he has heard or about to hear what Elrond says about him getting probably crazy 😦 I can’t believe they cut that scene from the theatrical version. It is so important! Crucial, I’d say. I’d like to ask Mr. PJ why…

I think this might possibly come from the German trailer for the EE.

The date is right. Did we even know there was a trailer just for the extended scenes in any language? And here I was thinking someone videotaped it on the flight from New Zealand to wherever.

I didn’t know until I saw this on TORn.

And understood it.

A little foreign language (esp one spoken by one of the world’s leading export economies) never hurt anyone, lol … but they don’t say much we haven’t heard. I think all the new lines are translated in one of the comments on the post.

Like “Extended Edition?”- i was surprised to see an actual flying dragon- and then the decision was made to keep it a mystery, which was cagey.

Get down with your bad self, there, Thorin! 😉

Have fun watching Thorin dance in this gif–apparently from the German version of the EE of TH:AUJ!

That stomping boot could punch a hole through that floor 😉

Well, a lot of fans have been wanting to see RA dance!

And Thorin would be just my size at 5 ft 2 for dancing. Dancing with my 6 ft 4 inch hubby is like straddling a sequoia in the wind–and that is just him swaying back and forth. Ha!

That didn’t come out right. Ha! Not “straddling”, but embracing him around his waist with my arm at shoulder level. Oh well, at least everyone is the same height lying down. *wink*

That reminds me of my friend who passed away. She was your size, her husband your husband’s size. She used to say he had the shiniest belt buckle in town, and she the most perfect indent of a belt buckle on her breast.

Giggles! No intrusive belt buckle indentation here. Ha!

Is that Elrond snapping his fingers??!???

OT – I am only noticing while looking at that little gif what girth Thorin has. It’s kind of strange knowing this is RA, avec “muscle” suit. This gif really shows what he meant when he said they were made “bigger” in order to appear shorter.

It does. I agree he looks more stocky than in most of the film. What’s he holding? Is that an instrument?
LikeLike
Oh, I hadn’t noticed. But he does hold something. Doesn’t look like a harp, though, which Thorin is supposed to be playing…
LikeLike
No, I think he just has his arms crossed.

That’s what I think, too. He’s holding a cup or something…you know, to deal with the realization that he’s in elven territory actually having a good time 🙂

There is something under his arms, though, Arkie. Look again. To me it is a box shape, but I actually read someone on tumblr claiming he was playing a fiddle… Strange fiddle, though, if it is played in front of the chest and wedged under one arm…

You’re right, he’s holding something. His beer mug? I went to Tumblr to the GIF Perry blogged. It’s the biggest one. I reblogged it to my dashboard so I could “study” it further. The one I have you can see the dwarves at the table better. He doesn’t seem to be doing anything with his other hand like strumming so I’m not sure it’s an instrument. Someone go ask Dwalin.

He’s actually holding a silver flask, drowning himself in booze as everyone else is having fun in Rivendell.

Buying the Extended Edition also might be worth it just for that, I think – yeah. (You can’t have too many Hobbits in the house…except for Tooks and Brandybucks maybe. 😉 )

You took the words right out of my mouth crystal! I’d say definitely worth buying the EE for this rare vision of Thorin enjoying himself. 🙂

You know, having seen the image showing the entire scene, I am inclined to agree with some folks on FB–this might not be Richard, but one of his doubles, probably Mark Atkin. Hard to say.

What makes you think so?

mmm… for prospective problems with Elrond & Co? It could be. But it would be a terrible delusione 😉

If you look at the perspective of the scene in its entirety, it does appear more likely to be the doubles. Oh, I WANT it to be Richard, too, don’t get me wrong. I felt a distinct letdown at the thought it might not be . . .

ops, sorry delusione = disappointment… I wrote the Italian word LOL!
